"How do they work ?"
Many industries use storage tanks or vessels to hold liquids, gases and even slurries. If the stored material should come into contact with oxygen, the substance oxidises and degrades, or potentially creates a hazardous situation.
To prevent this occurring an inert gas blanket can be introduced into the vapour space of the tank or vessel. This is most commonly known as Tank Gas Blanketing, Inert Gas Blanketing or Tank Padding. The most common and cost-effective gas is Nitrogen. When purging the tank with an inert gas the contents are protected from exposure to Oxygen the life of the product is prolonged and potentially explosive conditions are prevented. Tank Blanketing is used in a variety of industries such as manufacturing where potentially hazardous chemicals used in part of the manufacturing processes are stored and Petrochemical and Refineries to mitigate the risks involved with processing potentially explosive materials.
Tank Gas Blanketing Valves control the flow of the blanketing gas into the tank vapour space. As the tank is emptied the valve will open and allow a flow of gas into the tank. When the desired tank pressure is reached the valve will close. The valve will also react to thermal conditions and open and close accordingly.
